- Short description
- The building sector is responsible for consuming large quantities of global final energy, and according to the International Energy Agency (IEA) it emits roughly one-third of all greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the influence of climate change adds complexity to the situation as the buildings which are being designed and constructed nowadays will be exposed during its lifespan (50 years minimum in Spain as stated in building legislation code) not to its current climatic conditions but to ones more extreme and varying due to climate change. Within this context, the hypothesis of the ResBuild Project is that the development of climatic adaptive building envelopes will be crucial in the design of net Zero Energy Buildings (nZEB) resilient to climate change. In this sense, the main objective of the ResBuild project is to develop and evaluate a new generation of adaptive building envelopes resilient to climate change, able to adapt its performance to contribute to the energy conservation of the building sector when exposed to different environmental conditions caused from climate change
